Icelandic companies and institutions have increasingly moved their data and their services into the cloud services of international technology giants. The catch is that if the undersea cables break, the most important information sits in data centres abroad and is out of reach.

Atlas was founded about a year ago and took on its first customers in December. The goal was and is to build a secure and accessible cloud service, hosted entirely in Iceland.
